Setting: a theater had advertised the sale of old costumes and props, so me and my mom go, only on the wrong day.
My mom: We heard there was a sale here.
Theater woman [to my mom]: Oh, I'm so sorry, that was yesterday.
Mom: Oh, I see.
TW: I'm sure it was on all the ads properly.
Mom nods.
TW: It really was yesterday, you see. Today there are two plays to say goodbye to the old location.
Mom: How nice.
TW: So although it was yesterday, maybe you can come back later today. How strange you thought it was today, I'm sure the right date was on the ads.
Mom nods and walks to me.
TW notices me.
TW: I'm afraid the sale was yesterday.
Me: I heard.
TW: Today there are two plays to say goodbye to this location, but the sale was yesterday.
Me: Yes, I heard. It's our fault, really.
TW: I'm sure the right date was on the advertisements, see? *points at a poster*
Me: ...yes, I saw that. It was our fault.
TW: The poster said it was yesterday, so it couldn't have been that.
Me: I know.
TW: So maybe you can come back later today to have a look, but the sale was yesterday.
Me: I know. Bye.
It was as if she could only say a total of four thing, "the sale was yesterday", "today there are plays to say goodbye to the location", "the ads had the right date" and "maybe you can come back later" and was making up for that by repeating them over and over. And my mom doesn't think it's annoying, so I'm starting to wonder if there's a glitch in my wiring that makes me hate this.
Guh.

If I write my papers in a small, 'book-ish' font, it makes them seem a lot more intelligent and substantial than they really are. It's an optical delusion.
