I bought this box of old watch parts a while ago, because they were fascinating. I knew I wanted to make something with it, but I couldn't figure out what or how. So I kept rummaging through the gears and other watch-bits now and then, and yesterday I had the centrepiece of this thought out.

It's a piece of ribbon with a little hook and three eyes (so it's adjustable) in the back, gears sewn on, and the centrepiece in glued together. I did all sewing by hand and it was surprisingly fun. There are five little loose parts inside the centre bit, to make it look a little more interesting, they're just big enough not to fall out.

All the sewing makes it a bit itchy to wear, but chokers are never the most comfortable. I'm rather happy with the way this turned out, really, even if it doesn't -do- anything, it looks spiffy. I also like the effect of gears stitched on, with the stitches just visible. All in all, I might try this again.
